I would give this 10 stars if I could!

I am studying for the OAT QR section and this book is a godsend. If you have no confidence in your math skills especially when it comes to word problems, this book will solve all your problems (no pun intended)! Each chapter addresses a specific problem type and thoroughly presents different variations of the same exact problem. It has plenty of practice problems for you to hone your new skills and detailed, step-by-step answers at the end of each chapter.

The best book for learning algebra word problems

I baught this book for my son and he is a 7th Grader. My son could have easily read and learned the book by himself but to support him I read and learned solving problems with him.

I wish this kind of book was available when I was in Jr.High/High school. Word problems have been simplified and categorized in such a way that you will not forget the solution approach for the rest of your life.

Thanks to writers for writing this book.

Excellent Book

This is an excellent book on how to solve all of the common algebra word problems, such as mixture, distance, coin, and age problems, etc. There are numerous examples of each type of problem. What is really great is that the author shows you how to model the problems with easy to understand diagrams. It would be hard to find a better written book in my opinion.

Great book!

I had my last math class 10 years ago, now I decided to take a GMAT test and needed to refresh my basic math skills, in particular the word problems. This book was great! It helped me get a good score.

Excellent, systematic way of looking at word problems

I am taking a college-level algebra class to fulfill some pre-reqs. I really regret that my high school algebra texts never devoted a full section on word problems, as this book does. I see now that's why I never really "got" them. This book categorizes the problems by type and offers a systematic method of setting up each type. That's what I needed all along!

The only negative about the book is that there are a couple of types of problems for which the author didn't develop a drawing or chart. That's too bad, but the book has helped me immensely overall.
