Is your preschooler getting enough physical activity?
Nowadays, because the technology products are filled in our daily life, kids spend a lot of time watching TV, playing electronic games, sitting in front of computers. When move from one place to another, most of them by cars. The inactive time is increasing more and more for adults and for kids as well.
By the American Academy of Pediatrics, preschoolers should get a total of 60 minutes or more of physical activity daily, although the 60 minutes does not have to be all at once. In order to make sure your preschoolers are getting enough physical activity, parents need to ensure your preschoolers to play outside several times a day or in a room inside where they are free to run around, watch less than 2 hours of TV daily including all screen time, doesn’t sit for more than 60 minutes at one time. When actively playing, it is recommended that your preschooler is breathing quickly and/or sweating.
How can parents help your preschooler balance physically active and inactive time?
Parents have a big impact on your preschooler’s behaviors and activities. Be a role model and try to limit your own time spent sitting, such as watching TV and in front of a computer. To set a good example for your preschoolers is the best way to teach them being physically active is part of a healthy life.
Organizing fun activities and limiting TV and screen time to less than 2 hours daily are recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics. It is recommended to try to make inactive time reading time rather than TV time, and quiet time is best before naps or bed. In order to make sure your preschooler is not inactive too often, it is recommended to ask your child get up and do something active for a while after 60 minutes of inactivity, such as watching TV or playing games. Only put TVs in family rooms. Don’t put a TV in your child’s bedroom, which helps your preschooler spend less time watching TV.
Give your preschoolers time to let them free play, and also arrange some time to lead them to participate in structured play encouraging flexibility, focusing on strength and/or on endurance.
Help your preschoolers balance physically active and inactive time and help them develop a healthy lifestyle in their early childhood, from which they will benefit in their whole life.

Outdoor games like bike riding, going to the park, beach walks etc are not only the healthiest for my kids, but I find are also some of the most exciting.
While indoors, dancing and ball throwing can be fun, but my kids love the outdoors the most. Theres always a way to make an outing turn into a fun and healthy adventure. I find its even fun when taking the dogs to the beach, take the kids along, its a great time for all!
