I am considering introducing her some writing workbooks; however, I am wondering whether it is too early for her to learn to write. When does a child learn to write? How parents can help?

My son is in high, I think he should be busy in his course work and SAT tests. Last night, I saw he had spent several hours just surfing the internet, and then I reminded him, “Should you study your course work now?” He answered me, “I do not feel like study”. I was speechless. What should I do in that situation? Any suggestion? Did you have similar experience with me? Can you share your experience?

I work at a magazine called Young Money. We are distributed free at college campuses and our goal is to help kids learn about money. Looking at the world right now it is amazing how many people do not know how to budget and save money. It’s never too early to teach your child good financial habits that will stay with them forever.

We have just launched a new free stock market game. This is a virtual trading simulation to teach kids about investing, finance, math, and the importance of independent research. It’s a fun way to introduce kids to the world of finance and a good opener for starting a dialogue about what is going on in the world right now.

Each player gets $1,000,000 of virtual money that they can use to invest. You can enter contests and win real money or you can start your own private contests so kids can play against their friends or with their familes. You can find the game here: http://www.youngmoney.com/stock_market_game
Our goal is to help kids learn and help parents teach them. If the current economic crisis has taught us anything it is the need for better financial literacy in this country. I hope that this helps, even a little bit.

Thank you ,
Cara Newman
