During last three weeks, “Happy Parenting” was still focusing on Early Childhood Education and discussed the following topics. Here we would like to share with all of you.

“How to Help Your Child Get Ready for Kindergarten”

Kindergarten is the foundation for all future learning and where the love of learning begins. When parents choose to enroll your child in a kindergarten, be sure your child is developmentally appropriate. Parents should not only just assess your child in an academic emphasis but also emotional and social readiness.
http://www.parents-and-kids.com/blog/en/2009/04/how-to-help-your-child-get-ready-for-kindergarten/

“Review of the Most Popular Preschools ”

There are more preschool options than ever before, in fact, alternative preschool philosophies have been around for a lot longer than we think. We have done some research and found out that the following preschools are three of the most popular preschools in the United States. In order to provide your child the best education and start early, we suggest parents use this review as a reference and do your own research to find the right preschool for your child, which lays a strong foundation for your child’s future success.
http://www.parents-and-kids.com/blog/en/2009/04/a-review-of-the-most-popular-preschools/

“Is the Montessori Approach Right for Your Child?”

We as parents know that a right preschool for our children is crucial because preschoolers learn a lot and prepare for their future life. Parents want to help preschoolers to start on a lifetime journey of being in love with learning.

From the post of “Review of the Most Popular Preschools”, we know that the Montessori Approach is one of the most popular preschool systems in U.S. Since by now there are over 5,000 schools in the U.S, Montessori schools are also found in North and South American countries, throughout Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. We would like to share more about it with parents who are interesting to find a right preschool for their child.
http://www.parents-and-kids.com/blog/en/2009/05/is-the-montessori-approach-right-for-your-child/

Welcome your comments!

In “Healthy Life”, we are discussing on low fat diet trying to learn how to stay healthy.

“Low Fat Food Tips”

We have heard that too much fat in our diet can increase our risk of developing disease. But how much is too much?
http://www.parents-and-kids.com/healthy/en/2009/04/low-fat-food-tips/

“Common Low Fat Foods List for Your Everyday Healthy Eating”

Balance, variety and moderation form the basis for a healthy diet. We need a varied diet includes many different foods because no single food supplies all our needed nutrients. A balanced diet includes appropriate amounts of grains, vegetables, fruits, protein source, such as, milk-based foods, fish, meat and other alternatives, to supply the right amount of calories and nutrients for us. Calorie needs vary depending on our age and activity level. Moderation means carefully selecting foods to get the right amount of calories, fat and other nutrients we need.

During last three weeks, “Parenting Blog” was still focusing on Early Childhood Education and discussed the following topics. Here we would like to share with all of you.

“How Can Parents Help Your Young Child to Build Pre-Writing Skills”

Like reading, writing is another basic skill, which lays the foundation for children’s future success. In addition to help your child form a good reading habit, parents should observe your child’s learning stage and support your child to develop writing skills properly. Children usually learn to print first. However, they are not able to write well until they have developed good fine-motor skills, we call them pre-writing skills.
http://www.parents-and-kids.com/blog/en/2009/03/how-can-parents-help-your-young-child-to-build-pre-writing-skills/

“Fine Motor Development Milestones”

Use the following fine motor development milestones based on age groups as a general guideline to assess your child’s fine motor skills and help your child develop healthily in his or her early childhood.
We suggest parents to ask the following questions while you access your child’s fine motor skills.
http://www.parents-and-kids.com/blog/en/2009/04/fine-motor-development-milestones/

“How Can Parents Help Your Child Learn to Write”

Children usually learn to write print first and move on to handwriting at third or fourth grade and then they start to write essays. Each child is different, parents should not be rush and push your child too hard. Always remember, happy learners learn fast. Parents’ main aim should be to help your child be a happy learner.
http://www.parents-and-kids.com/blog/en/2009/04/how-can-parents-help-your-child-learn-to-write/

Welcome your comments!

In “Parents Place”, we are learning how to manage healthy cholesterol levels and fat.

“Exercises for Maintaining Healthy Cholesterol Levels”

There are many types of exercises we can do from low-impact exercises to high-impact exercises and all have shown some benefit in keeping our body fit and our cholesterol levels normal. Even if you already have imbalance cholesterol levels, exercise still can be very helpful in preventing your cholesterol levels from getting worse. There has been a lot of research shows that there is a positive relationship between cholesterol and exercise and certain types of exercises are more effective to control healthy cholesterol levels than others.
http://www.parents-and-kids.com/article/en/fitness-exercise/95

“Eating Eggs Considering Cholesterol”

The reason that a lot of people worry about eggs is that eggs contain high amounts of cholesterol. One large egg has 213mg cholesterol and 5g of fat including 2g saturated fat. Therefore, a lot of questions are raised on eating eggs. For example, does egg consumption lead to high cholesterol levels and thus increased risk of coronary hearth disease? How many eggs should a healthy person limit a week? How about a person who has heart problems?
http://www.parents-and-kids.com/article/en/health-food/100

“Eating a Healthy Diet: Managing Fat in Your Diet”

A balanced diet is crucial for our health. Fats grasp our attention because many of our favorite foods contain significant amounts of fat, which provides much of the great taste we enjoy in foods. Fats are a very important part of eating a healthy diet. On the other hand, because fat contains more calories than carbohydrates and protein, too much dietary fat may increase our risk of chronic disease. Eating too much fat may also play a role in becoming overweight because fats contain twice as many calories as protein and carbohydrates.

“How Can Parents Help Your Child to Build Pre-Reading Skills”

Just like any learning process, learning to read has a sequence while each child is different, most children can be taught to read following the sequence of acquiring reading skills. It is considered as a pre-reading stage.
http://www.parents-and-kids.com/blog/en/2009/03/how-can-parents-help-your-child-to-build-pre-reading-skills/

During last three weeks, “Parenting Blog” was still focusing on Early Childhood Education and discussed the following topics. Here we would like to share with all of you.

“How Can Parents Help Your Young Child’s Language Development?”

Both genetic and environmental factors contribute to language and psychosocial and emotional development. Children who are poor communicators do not send clear messages and therefore may be difficult to read and respond to appropriately.

We suggest parents help your young child’s language development in the following ways.

http://www.parents-and-kids.com/blog/en/2009/02/how-can-parents-help-your-young-child-language-development/

“Is a Second Language Beneficial to Your Young Child?”

Many of my friends who have immigrants’ families just like me; some of them insist on their kids to be bilingual; while others think that bilingual speakers can not concentrate on one and turns out that kids can not excel at any one of the languages. With large immigrant populations on the increase in many countries, many parents are faced with raising a bilingual or trilingual child.

http://www.parents-and-kids.com/blog/en/2009/02/is-a-second-language-beneficial-to-young-your-child/

“Review on Bilingual Research for Parenting”

As children with multi language exposure, parents must get to know current research and recommendations regarding the language development of bilingual children and early language intervention. As parents, if we are familiar with the current research, we can better answer some questions such as, “How should we talk to our child? Should we use one language or two?” In addition, we can provide better early language intervention.

http://www.parents-and-kids.com/blog/en/2009/03/review-on-bilingual-research-for-parenting/

Vegetables and Fruits are healthy foods we live on daily while please be aware of pesticides, those harmful chemicals. With the advance of science, nowadays, more and more vegetables and fruits we can get all year round while we could not in the old time.
“Preschoolers’ Physical Activities”

Preschoolers are very energetic and active; with huge curiosity they use playing to explore the world. Ensure your preschoolers have healthy physical activity, which is a key to help them develop physically and mentally.
http://www.parents-and-kids.com/blog/en/2009/02/preschoolers-physical-activity/

“Early Childhood Language Development”

Language is an item of human culture which is an inseparable part of human life. Language and communicative competence are critical for learning, engaging in social relationships, and succeeding in school and beyond. If a general keyword has fewer competitors, if a specific phrase keyword has more competitors, what should we do? How to answer the question in the title?

Happy New Year! May 2009 be the year of growth in every area of your life and in the lives of those whom you cherish!

Thank you very much from my heart for your continue support!

During last several weeks, “Parenting Blog” discussed the following topics and we want to share with all of you.

“How Parents and Children of Immigrant Families Inherit Their Family Values to Take the Advantage of Their Strength? ”

“Take in the essence and throw away the dross”

We mentioned that for new immigrants, they need follow the rule, “Do in Rome as Rome does” in the previous post, however, we still think that in the same time, immigrants should stick to the principle, which is “take in the essence and throw away the dross”. Namely, try to fit in without selling out. While we all struggle with “fitting in” for the entirety of our lives, we do have our own believes and principles.

http://www.parents-and-kids.com/blog/en/2008/12/how-parents-and-children-of-immigrant-families-inherit-their-family-values-to-take-the-advantage-of-their-strength/

“ How to Help Immigrant Children to Achieve?”

In an ideal world, the objectives and foundational system of education programs should be uniquely matched to the demographics, interests and motivations of each child, which could be designed to suit his or her skills, learning styles, personalities, developmental concerns and cultural heritage. But in reality, educators are constrained by the resources and can not create individualized curricula that address the widely divergent needs of the students adequately. For new immigrant students, they have much more challenge to achieve in their new schools.

http://www.parents-and-kids.com/blog/en/2009/01/how-to-help-immigrant-children-to-achieve/

“Focus on Early Childhood Education”

Parents, educators, researchers, and policymakers are all becoming increasingly aware of the role that high-quality early childhood education plays in the success of students not only in the elementary grades, but throughout their lives. What are the effective ways of early childhood education? How parents can choose a high-quality preschool and kindergarten for their child? How parents can help on educating their young children?

http://www.parents-and-kids.com/blog/en/2009/01/focus-on-early-childhood-education/

Welcome your comments!

In “Parents Place”, we discussed eBook, which is one of the hottest topics on the Internet these days because of a lot of benefits.

“Three Key Factors for a Good eBook”

While self-publishing is made possible by the availability of cheap tools and widespread Internet access, there is the huge glut of poorly written e-books that has been flooding the market, and it can be hard to find anything worth reading. E-book readers will have to do some digging to find quality stuff with some patience these days.

This week “Parenting Blog” in www.parents-and-kids.com discussed the following topics and we want to share with all of you.

“Understand Children’s Needs”

To understand children’s needs is must for good parenting. Only we as parents understand children’s needs, can we help children in a positive way and meet their needs as possible as we can, which leads to effective parenting.

http://www.parents-and-kids.com/blog/en/2008/10/understand-children-needs/

“Parenting Teenagers”

Teenage is a very difficult time for kids themselves as well as their parents. The kids no longer remain kids and they are yet to become adults. In order to achieve better parenting, we would like to discuss several topics. We will start with the development of teens’ brain, then move to figure out what are teenagers’ needs? How to connect with teenagers? How to help them handle stress? How to guide them on nutrition and exercises? How to motivate them? How to be a good parent to guide teenagers to success?
