This book is one of the earliest books available for the new revised GRE available in August of 2011. It is a valuable tool for people to get a jumpstart on the masses and see what is going on with this new test and what will be expected.

I loved the changes made to the reading comprehension sections. The book does detail all of the things that have changed from the old GRE. Getting this information straight from the test makers at least gives you confidence that they do know what they’re doing.

An issue I had with the book is that it has review sections in math that glosses over an area and moves on. They mention that if you don’t understand a concept or need more explanation, you will need to purchase some other book or review an old text on the subject. This book gives a list of answers.

I took the test provided in the book and did pretty good.

I recently bought this book to study for the revised GRE that begins in August 2011. So far I’ve been pretty much looking at the resources and reading the introductory parts and they have all been very helpful.

First of all, with this book, which includes practice sections and one full-length paper-based practice test, you get an online registration number which allows you to access 5 additional full-length practice tests. You also get an online session to one free GRE Live Online session, which I’m looking forward to experience. You also have the CD-ROM companion. The CD has a whole lot of practice sets for both the verbal and quantitative sections as well as 5 analytical essay prompts. So far I’ve taken the paper-based test on the book, to get my first feel of how the test is like. I did pretty good on the verbal section but I know I’ll need a lot of practice on the math/quantitative section and develop my writing skills for the analytical section of the GRE.

As far as the introductions go, they explain all the changes with the revised GRE and give you lots of study tips for before taking the test and advice on actually taking the test. The mobile version of the book, as mentioned inside the book, will not be available until September, or so it said on the online website. I do have a Kaplan Vocab app which I downloaded (FREE) that has a 501 words list which I’ve been using occasionally.

As I go through the book, the revised GRE has been very helpful to me so far.
